INTERN, Business Development, October 24th, 2011
Reports to: Director, Business Development
Location: New York, NY
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the creation and implementation of sales materials and presentations, including PowerPoint, Excel, Photo Shop and Word for proposals, other printed matter and collateral pieces, etc.
- Assist senior level executives with communication between clients via email, telephone, and personal meetings
- Compile and maintain client pipeline reports and prospecting lists
- Assist with the sales process, including working directly with staff regarding research on current and potential clients, various corporations, and general industry information such as, naming rights and sponsorship details
- Support the Director on necessary projects and/or properties to ensure deadlines are met and the highest quality work can be provided
- Research and develop sales leads and contacts daily for the New York sales team
- Assist with the maintenance of Salesforce CRM database
- Assist in day-to-day office administration, such as mail, printing, etc.
Qualifications:
- Applicant must have a minimum of two (2) years of team, league, event, facility, and agency or other relevant promotion, marketing or business development experience.
- Mandatory computer skills: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, PhotoShop, and CRM software experience. Must have advanced Word and PowerPoint skills as work with these two programs will be heavy
- Knowledge of the business of sports and entertainment
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Excellent proposal writing and proposal structuring skills
- Extraordinary attention to detail, consistency and grammar when reviewing and creating proposals, reports, and other documents
- Hard-working, innovative, enthusiastic, creative, smart, quick-witted, likeable, respected, professional, resilient, aggressive, driven, self-starter, honest, and level-headed
- Sets the highest possible standards and goals at all times
Scope of Internship:
The unpaid internship will be for the duration of the 2011 Fall Semester and candidates should expect to work at least 15 hours per week. Educational credit is available through this program. Company reimburses for pre-approved job related expenses (meeting travel, office-related purchases, etc.). This internship program will provide an opportunity to work with some of the industry’s top executives, teams, sponsors and other sports properties.
Note:
Candidates should expect to gain excellent technical, consulting, marketing and project management skills and be exposed to exciting and challenging projects in the sports industry. Confidentiality agreement is required.
