Position Description: Sales Assistant, Corporate Partnerships

Reports To: Vice President, Corporate Partnerships and Sr. Director, Corporate Partnerships

Location: Chicago, IL

Position Overview: The primary responsibility of this position is to support Premier’s Corporate Partnerships executives and assist with the day‐to‐day management of sales administration and various business development and sponsorship/consulting sales efforts. The Sales Assistant will have a unique opportunity to work day to day with sports executives and learn first-hand the business of sports and work on some of the most prestigious and high-profile projects in the sports and entertainment industry.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Account Management and Sales Support
    • Property research and support
    • Help maintain Salesforce (CRM database) – system updates and contact database development
    • Provide CRM pipeline reports as directed
    • Secure and confirm contact information with potential sponsors
    • Perform necessary outreach and follow-up
    • Assist Corporate Partnership executives with communication between clients via email, telephone, and scheduling meetings/calls
    • Organize and prepare for sales meeting by conducting appropriate sponsor/ property research and developing prep documents
    • Assist with the creation of sales materials, proposals, and presentations
    • Attend and participate in sales meetings, as appropriate
  • New Business Initiatives
    • Work directly with staff regarding research on new business opportunities, potential clients, sponsor prospects, and general industry/property information such as, naming rights and sponsorship details
    • Research and develop sales leads and contact lists for sales staff
    • Set up calls and meetings for Corporate Partnership executives
    • Various additional projects and duties as assigned
  • Administrative
    • Assist in administrative tasks for sales accounts including organizing meetings, travel arrangements, and other special projects and acting as the sponsorship liaison for operations
    • Contribute to day-to-day office operations such as meeting prep, answering phones, mailings, ordering company supplies, etc.
    • Keep all office research, libraries and resources organized and updated
    • Compile, submit & track Chicago office expense reports

Career Path Extension: This entry level role is a stepping stone to higher-level opportunities. The term of this position is based on the individual’s talent and progression within the Sales Assistant position. Typically, the role is held for approximately one to two years, with successful Sales Assistants having been promoted to a Corporate Partnerships position within this time frame.

Required Characteristics:

  • Overall, act as a key member of Premier’s Chicago team and become an essential piece in the growth and development of Premier’s Chicago office and assist in maintaining our position within the industry as a leader in sponsorship sales
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including attention to detail
  • Strong research and analytical skills

Qualifications:

  • 4-year college degree
  • Successful candidate should have 1-3 years of work experience in sports management, sponsorship sales and activation, marketing or related field.
  • Successful candidate should have significant internship experience in sports management, sponsorship sales and activation, marketing or related field.
  • Mandatory computer skills and strong social media skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as Photoshop
  • Other necessary qualifications and characteristics include:
    • Self-motivated and ability to prioritize and manage work flow and efficiently multi-task on important projects
    • Excellent project management and administrative skills
    • Strong research and analytical skills
    • Ability to identify and solve problems creatively
    • Ability to work well with others in a team environment and form strong relationships with colleagues, clients, agencies, teams, leagues and sports & entertainment organizations
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Must maintain a positive attitude, professionalism, integrity, motivation and a strong work ethic
    • Spanish speaking and writing a plus

  • Salary commensurate with the position and based upon experience
